  1. 1: firestar/fireheart/firepaw/rusty

bluestars prophecy: goosepaw see rusty looking out over the twoleg fence.

when rusty comes into the clan bluestar ays "you were right goosefeather a fire will blaze through the forest"

into the wild:

Firestar is first seen in Into the Wild as a young kittypet named Rusty. Rusty has been having strange dreams of himself hunting in the forest, but he would always wake up before he actually caught any prey. He has a soft friend named Smudge, who never seems to long to do any exciting things.
Rusty ventures into the forest, and is attacked by a forest cat, Graypaw. Rusty confronts Graypaw instead of running away like most kittypets would, impressingBluestar and Lionheart, who had been watching from the bushes. Bluestar invites him to join ThunderClan. When he is seen by Lionheart and another cat,Whitestorm, the next day, he chooses to join the Clan, and makes the journey to ThunderClan camp.
When Bluestar announces her intent to accept the kittypet, Rusty, into the Clan, many of her Clanmates are infuriated. A young warrior named Longtail taunts Rusty, and Rusty attacks him. The battle is won by Rusty. Longtail tears off Rusty's collar and he receives a split ear in the process. Bluestar accepts the broken collar as an omen that the kittypet should be a Clan cat, and grants Rusty his apprentice name, Firepaw because of his flame colored pelt.
Firepaw is at first mentored by Tigerclaw and Lionheart together, but eventually gets a very shocking choice for an official mentor; Bluestar herself. The Clan is very surprised, as it is a high honor. She chooses him because of his exceptional skill that exceeds the other apprentices, and because she has a suspicion that he was part of the fire prophecy. Tigerclaw continuously bullies him, as do the other two apprentices, Sandpaw and Dustpaw. Graypaw stays by Firepaw's side all the time, and they are best friends. Ravenpaw, a timid apprentice, is somewhat a third wheel for the best friends.
Firepaw catches on very fast on everything he is taught, and soon is recognized as a natural warrior with leadership skills.
Later in his apprenticeship, Firepaw encounters a ShadowClan cat named Yellowfang; who is now living as a rogue since being unfairly driven out, whom he also defeats, injuring her leg. Instead of turning her over to his Clan, Firepaw feeds her before feeding his Clan. After they both had eaten, they are caught by a ThunderClan patrol, which takes Yellowfang into custody. Firepaw's punishment for breaking The Warrior Code is to care for the grumpy former medicine cat.
It becomes apparent to Firepaw that Ravenpaw, his timid friend, and the only witness to Tigerclaw's murder of Redtail, is in grave danger. Firepaw and Graypaw help him escape to live with the loner, Barley, spreading the rumor that their fellow apprentice had died.
Firepaw is shocked and hurt when Thunderclan's medicine cat, Spottedleaf, is murdered. It is apparent he liked the she-cat, although he knew it was against the Warrior Code to do so, as medicine cats are not allowed to have mates. Later it is revealed that they both were in love with each other.
Later, Bluestar sends Firepaw and Graypaw into ShadowClan territory to find and question Yellowfang and attempt to recover the stolen ThunderClan kits -Brackenkit, Cinderkit, Thornkit, and Brightkit. It is later realized that Yellowfang didn't murder Spottedleaf like expected, but Clawface, one of Brokenstar's followers, did. Following the successful mission Bluestar grants him the name Fireheart and the status of a warrior along with Graypaw, who becomes Graystripe.
====Fire and Ice====
Fireheart and Graystripe are sent by Bluestar to find WindClan, who has been driven from their land by ShadowClan, and return them to their territory. The missing Clan is found and returned, but while returning to ThunderClan the pair of warriors are found trespassing on RiverClan territory along with a WindClan warrior named Onewhisker (who later becomes very friendly towards Fireheart), and the deputy, Deadfoot. During the battle that ensues, a RiverClan warrior named Whiteclaw falls to his death at the bottom of the gorge. This death is blamed on Graystripe, who tried to catch his falling enemy. Also during the fight, Fireheart saves Sandpaw from falling over the side of the gorge. She snaps at him, not noticing how close she came to death at first, saying "I can fight my own battles!" Then, afterwards, she sees what he did, and slowly begins to warm up to him.
When the pair arrives back at camp, Fireheart is given his first apprentice, a she-cat called Cinderpaw, one of the kits he had previously rescued fromShadowClan. Cinderpaw is later gravely injured by a monster in what Fireheart believes was a trap for Bluestar, that had been laid by Tigerclaw.
One day, Graystripe and his apprentice, Brackenpaw, go hunting with Fireheart and Cinderpaw near the frozen RiverClan river. Graystripe had begun to stalk a vole across the ice when it breaks beneath him. A RiverClan she-cat ends up saving him, introducing herself as Silverstream. This later to leads to Graystripe falling in love with Silverstream and the two begin meeting secretly, much to Fireheart's frustration. The two friends begin fighting, and soon stop speaking to one another.
On one of their training sessions, Fireheart spots a familiar kittypet. When Cinderpaw says that they should drive her away, he steps on a twig purposefully to scare her away. It is later known that the pregnant she-cat is Fireheart's sister.
Fireheart's sister, Princess, gives him her first-born son, Cloudkit, to take back to ThunderClan, and to be raised as a Clan cat. Fireheart had told Princess all about his life in the Clan, and after Cinderpaw had been hit by a monster, she wants Cloudkit to be his new apprentice. When Fireheart arrives back at camp, the Clan is furious to see that he has brought a kittypet to their Clan. Surprisingly, Graystripe speaks up in Fireheart's defense, and Bluestar decides to let the kit stay with ThunderClan. Brindleface, who had lost two of her kits, then happily cares for Cloudkit.
Later, when Brokenstar, the former leader of ShadowClan, returns with a group of rogues, Fireheart is the only fully trained warrior in the camp. Fireheart and the handful of able fighters manage to drive the rogues away, and Brokenstar is blinded by Yellowfang during the battle, and thus unable to make his escape. Bluestar decides that the Clan would have mercy and keep him as a prisoner rather than slaying a helpless cat, and changes his name to Brokentail.
When RiverClan and ShadowClan ally to attack WindClan, ThunderClan warriors are sent to aid them. During the battle Fireheart permits Silverstream, Graystripe's forbidden lover, to escape. Tigerclaw sees this, and views it as a defect in Fireheart's loyalty. After the battle, Graystripe thanks Fireheart for not attacking Silverstream and the two quickly rekindle their friendship.

[edit]Forest of Secrets[]

After one of the Gatherings, he and Graystripe sneak away to WindClan territory to find Ravenpaw, and confirm his story of the death of Redtail. When they find him, they question him about what he saw during the battle where Redtail was killed. They also eat mice that they caught in the barn, and when asked by Tigerclaw why they smelled of fresh-kill when they had none, they remark that it was not a hunting patrol, and they ate to keep up their strength.
Fireheart and Graystripe catch ThunderClan prey and give it to RiverClan during the period of the flooded river.
Silverstream gives birth too early to Graystripe's kits at Sunningrocks, with Fireheart running to summon Cinderpaw, the new medicine cat apprentice. Though Silverstream dies, Graystripe's two kits, Featherkit and Stormkit survive. Cinderpaw blames herself for the death of Silverstream.
Fireheart stops Tigerclaw from killing Bluestar and also finally exposes his treachery. Tigerclaw is exiled from ThunderClan by orders of Bluestar. As he leaves, he threatens Fireheart's life. To Fireheart's and the Clan's astonishment, Bluestar makes Fireheart deputy, instead of a more senior warrior. However, she violates the warrior code in that she named her new deputy after moonhigh. Many believe this is a bad omen, and are skeptical about their new deputy.
Fireheart is assigned as his nephew, Cloudpaw's, mentor.
Graystripe admits that Fireheart was right. He can't leave his kits in another Clan, so he goes with the RiverClan patrol, which includes Mistyfoot, Silverstream's cousin and best friend, to RiverClan.

[edit]Rising Storm[]

Fireheart struggles with the Deputy duties, much to the amusement of Darkstripe. Whitestorm tries to encourage him, telling him that it will get easier. Cloudpaw is being difficult, and Fireheart is finding mentoring him to be a more difficult task. Bluestar is so distant and shaken that Fireheart is forced to pick mentors for Ashpaw and Fernpaw, with the help of Cinderpelt and Yellowfang. He choses Dustpelt to mentor Ashpaw, because Dustpelt would want to prove his loyalty to the clan after Tigerclaw offered to bring him out of ThunderClan. Also, he thought that Dustpelt would be dying to have his first apprentice. Fireheart chooses Darkstripe to mentor Fernpaw, because Yellowfang does not think it would be wise to have Sandstorm mentor Fernpaw, as that would make two inexperienced mentors at one time.
Fireheart and Bluestar attempt to travel to Highstones. As they are en route, they are stopped by a WindClan patrol led by Mudclaw. The WindClan warriors do not let them pass, and eventually, Fireheart and Bluestar return to camp, rather than start a fight. The Clan is outraged, and they demand to know why Fireheart allowed the Wind Clan patrol to turn them back. Fireheart responds with a challenge of his own, asking, "Would you have risked your leader's safety?"
Two ShadowClan warriors come into ThunderClan territory, pleading for help. Their clan has fallen ill, and their leader is dying. Yellowfang tells Bluestar to send the warriors away, because they have a dangerous disease with no known cure. Yellowfang desperately reminds Bluestar that it had not been long since Greencough had taken one of her lives. Fireheart and Sandstorm escort the ShadowClan warriors to the Thunderpath, where they find the tunnel under the Thunderpath inside of ShadowClan's territory. Bluestar tells him and Sandstorm not to inform the clan about the tunnel. When Fireheart finds out that Cinderpelt has been taking care of Whitethroat and Littlecloud, despite Bluestar sending them away, he tells her that the ShadowClan cats must leave the territory.
Tigerclaw and a group of rogues attack a ThunderClan patrol, killing Runningwind. Fireheart returns to the scene of the attack, not knowing that Tigerclaw had led the rogues. After chasing Whitethroat onto the Thunderpath, Tigerclaw attacks again. Whitethroat is hit by a monster, and Fireheart defeats Tigerclaw with the help of Stonefur's patrol. Graystripe is a part of the patrol from RiverClan. Tigerclaw tells Fireheart that he will kill ThunderClan one by one.
Cloudpaw has been traveling to a Twoleg nest everyday, getting food from the Twolegs. When Fireheart finds out, he tells him to stop, but the apprentice refuses to listen, not understanding how far he was breaking the Warrior Code. Fireheart and Sandstorm follow him on one of his "outings," and helplessly watch as the Twolegs put Cloudpaw in a cage, and take him away in a monster. Fireheart says that he has lost everyone important to him in his Clan, and Sandstorm, who apparently has feelings for him, says that she had thought she had mattered to him, but that she must have been wrong. Fireheart feels bad, because the two had been growing very close. He apologizes at the fresh-kill pile, and is embarrassed to realize that his interactions with Sandstorm have been an interest to his Clan.
Soon, Ravenpaw visits ThunderClan. As he was traveling through the forest to ThunderClan's camp, he is attacked by Fireheart, Sandstorm, and Brightpaw, who had not recognized Ravenpaw at first. Ravenpaw tells Fireheart that he found a white kittypet that was lost, and smelled of ThunderClan. Fireheart sends Brightpaw back to camp to tell Whitestorm where he has gone, and Ravenpaw takes Fireheart and Sandstorm to the Twoleg nest. On the way, they are chased by some dogs. Sandstorm becomes suspicious of Ravenpaw, questioning whether or not he was leading them into a trap. Fireheart thinks that her fears are ridiculous, and he continues to follow Ravenpaw to Cloudpaw's Twoleg nest. There, they rescued Cloudpaw from his captivity. On the way back to camp, they are attacked by Mudclaw, his apprentice, Webpaw, and the WindClan deputy, Deadfoot. Cloudpaw drives off Webpaw, even though he had been locked indoors for almost a moon, and helps Sandstorm defeat Mudclaw. Fireheart tells Deadfoot, "I'll show you respect when you've earned it", and sends him running back to WindClan camp. Fireheart brings Cloudpaw to camp, and asks Bluestar if he can stay. Bluestar agrees, and Fireheart suggests that Darkstripe tell the Clan that Cloudpaw will stay, as Darkstripe had been the cat to protest. Bluestar seems disturbed by his coming, but tells him that Darkstripe will tell the Clan.
Later that night, Fireheart is woken up by the smell of fire and alerts his Clan of the danger. When everyone is evacuating, they realize that Bramblekit is missing, along with Patchpelt and Halftail. He and Yellowfang return to camp and find Bramblekit stuck in a burning tree. Fireheart rescues him, and the tree falls, separating him from Yellowfang. He drags Patchpelt to the river, hoping to save him, but the elderly tom dies. They take shelter in the River clan camp. The next day, he and Graystripe go back to camp. Fireheart finds Yellowfang dying. Yellowfang tells him that she killed her son, Brokentail, not knowing that he already knew this. She asks Fireheart to thank Bluestar for allowing her to stay in Thunder Clan, and admits that she wishes that Fireheart was her son.
At the end of the book, Fireheart takes his Clanmates to the gathering, because Bluestar had refused to go. When they arrive, they find that Nightstar had died, along with his deputy, Cinderfur. This confuses Fireheart, as Nightstar only received his nine lives and name at the Moonstone a few moons ago. When the new ShadowClan leader finally arrives, Fireheart is horrified to find that Tigerclaw is ShadowClan's new leader.

[edit]A Dangerous Path[]

Several hunting and border patrols find remains of birds and fresh-kill, along with evidence of a dog by Snakerocks. Fireheart tries to convince Bluestar that it truly is a dog, but she believes it is actually WindClan. She plans to attack, but Fireheart comes up with a plan to diverse the battle behind Bluestar's back. When he tells the rest of the warriors about what he has done, most of them are angry, including Sandstorm.
When the time comes for Bramblekit and Tawnykit to become apprentices, Bluestar asks Fireheart to choose mentors for them, but she tells him to choose. He chooses to be Bramblekit's mentor himself, and Brackenfur to mentor Tawnykit, even though Sandstorm was the obvious choice. She is furious at him for this and makes it a point to ignore him afterward. Fireheart can not tell Sandstorm why he chose Brackenfur as Tawnykit's mentor: he wishes to protect her from Tigerstar, as he is afraid that the ShadowClan leader will harm the mentors of his kits.
Fireheart finds out that Tigerstar is feeding a pack of wild dogs, who had killed Swiftpaw earlier in the book, and at the same time brutally injured Brightpaw. Brightpaw is cruelly renamed Lostface by Bluestar, as a part of her paranoia about StarClan. Before they leave to get rid of the wild dogs, Fireheart reveals to Sandstorm his love for her.
At the end of the book, while Fireheart is trying to get the wild dog pack to go over the gorge, Tigerstar stops him and pins Fireheart down. Bluestar shows up and knocks the dog that is attacking Fireheart over the edge of the gorge along with herself. Fireheart tries to save her by jumping in after her, but he almost drowns. Mistyfoot and Stonefur appear and, since they are RiverClan cats and swim well, help Fireheart carry Bluestar up on to the bank where the ThunderClan leader shares tongues with her children one last time. Bluestar dies, but not before telling Fireheart that he is indeed the fire that was prophesied to save ThunderClan. After his leader's death, Fireheart looks at Graystripe. Graystripe dips his head in the deepest respect, and Fireheart is horrified because he realizes he is now the leader of ThunderClan.

[edit]The Darkest Hour[]

After Bluestar's death, he travels to the Moonstone with Cinderpelt for his leadership ceremony. He receives his nine lives, but the ceremony is interrupted with chanting and by a pile of cat and prey bones rising out of the ground. Bluestar then gives him this prophecy:
"Four will become two, Lion and Tiger will meet in battle, and Blood will rule the forest".
Then blood flows out of the hill and he thinks he is going to be swept away by the rushing current. When he wakes up he imagines that he can still smell the stench of blood. On their way back they stop at the barn where Barley and Ravenpaw live and catch a few mice.
Later, he exiles Darkstripe when he betrays ThunderClan, trying to kill Sorrelkit with deathberries after she had tracked him meeting up with Blackfoot, the ShadowClan deputy. Also, Cloudtail complains about Lostface's name and why it can't be changed to a regular name. Firestar asks if that is possible and is told by Cloudtail if he thinks that Halftail and One-eye were born with those names, he's crazy. Firestar then goes to One-eye and is told how to perform the name-changing ceremony. Later, he renames Lostface as Brightheart.
He and Sandstorm are apparent mates now. Though it is not directly stated until later books, Cinderpelt had been in love with the ginger warrior, though he never knew. She seems to flare up at Sandstorm a few times, but eventually the two warm up and become great friends.
Meanwhile, Tigerstar, leader of ShadowClan, tries to unite all four of the original Clans to form TigerClan. Only Leopardstar joins him, showing bad judgement as a leader. Tigerstar also brings BloodClan into the forest. He brings Scourge and Bloodclan to a Gathering.
Scourge believes that Tigerstar is just a normal Clan leader, but then Firestar reveals to all the Clans, including BloodClan, Tigerstar's treachery, and Scourge then rips all of the ShadowClan leader's lives away when Tigerstar acts like Scourge is under his control.
Firestar also instigates the anti-BloodClan movement, and leads LionClan, which is all of the four Clans united together. During the battle with BloodClan, he kills Scourge, ending the battle, (and BloodClan itself). However, he had lost a life to Scourge in the war.
In the end, all is peaceful, and Firestar continues his leadership.

[edit]In the New Prophecy Series[]

[edit]Midnight[]

After Firestar receives the prophecy about the fire and the tiger from Cinderpelt and Leafpaw, he tries to keep Brambleclaw and Squirrelpaw away from each other. He tries hard, for he thinks danger would come to the Clan if they could see each other. After many attempts to keep the two cats away from each other, he fails. Firestar is very stressed out after their disappearance, and sends many patrols out to find the two. At the end of Midnight, Firestar and a couple other cats witness one of the first monsters that traveled away from the Thunderpath, and sent the first damage to ThunderClan territory.

[edit]Moonrise[]

Firestar starts to become more and more worried about many things. Firestar is very worried about the Twoleg construction, and is afraid that the forest has become to dangerous to live in. The forest is becoming a bad place for ThunderClan to live in, and the monsters are destroying more of the Clan's territory. To add on to that, Firestar is very worried about his daughter, Squirrelpaw, who had left with Brambleclaw, not telling anyone where they went. Graystripe helps the troubled leader cope with the disappearance, because Graystripe knows what it was like to live without a loved one. His other daughter, Leafpaw is trapped by Twolegs, while Sorreltail is powerless to help.

[edit]Dawn[]

When the monsters are moving too near to the ThunderClan camp, Firestar has to move the Clan to Sunningrocks. Then, Squirrelpaw and Brambleclaw return from the Great Journey, and, though he is overjoyed to see them, he is not completely sure about their idea of leaving.
Firestar is devastated when he finds out his friend, Graystripe, was captured by Twolegs, but his grieving is interrupted by Tawnypelt, who begs them to help save ShadowClan when their camp is being terrorized by monsters, and he brings his complete Clan and the whole of WindClan to help. Soon after beginning of their trek, Firestar sees a tree falling near Onewhisker, so he pushes him out of the way along with some ShadowClan kits. Though he saves others' lives, that does not prevent him from losing yet another life, leaving him only five. Firestar allows ShadowClan to stay with ThunderClan until it is time to leave. Firestar helps the Clans leave the forest and remains optimistic during most of the journey.

[edit]Starlight[]

When the cats are at the lake, Firestar makes his daughter, Squirrelpaw, into a warrior, Squirrelflight. Onewhisker, along with Firestar and Brambleclaw, is told that he is to become deputy just before Tallstar's death. Barkface arrives soon after and believes that what the ThunderClan cats say about Onewhisker is true. Firestar tells WindClan about their new leader for Onewhisker in fear that no one would believe him.
On the night Mudclaw revolts, Firestar brings help to WindClan, and helps to drive away Mudclaw and his attempt to overthrow Onewhisker.

[edit]Twilight[]

Firestar and ThunderClan seem to be settling in alright. Firestar has still not appointed a deputy, with the faint hope that Graystripe may still be living. ThunderClan has problems on their and WindClan's border, though. Blackstar can't seem to contain his warriors, as it is ShadowClan that is the problem.
Firestar is also worried about Onestar and how his Clan are doing. He sends some cats over to ask how they were doing, only to be told that Onestar can deal with his own Clan and their Clan's problems alone.
One night, badgers attack the camp as payback for them driving them out. Firestar fights along every warrior, and almost loses the fight. He would have lost, if it weren't for WindClan, who send a few warriors to help. This act ends some of the tension between Firestar and Onestar. His daughter, Leafpool, and her forbidden love, Crowfeather, also come back to ThunderClan. Firestar grieves for his former apprentice, Cinderpelt, when she dies protecting a kitting Sorreltail from the badgers.

[edit]Sunset[]

After a long convincing by Sandstorm, Brambleclaw, and Stormfur, Firestar has to accept Graystripe's death and move on. He is close to appointing Brackenfuras his deputy, until Leafpool approaches him and tells him about her dream that Brambleclaw would protect the Clan. Firestar then names Brambleclaw his deputy, stating that he would mentor Berrykit when the kit was six moons old.
Firestar later gets caught in a fox trap when he is told by Birchpaw that Blackstar was on ThunderClan territory. It turns out to be a trap from Hawkfrost, who wants Brambleclaw to kill Firestar and become leader. Brambleclaw refuses and digs up the end of the trap, killing his half brother in the process. Firestar thanks Brambleclaw for showing his loyalty to the Clan and for not killing him.

[edit]In the Power of Three Series[]

[edit]The Sight[]

Firestar's duties continue as he witnesses the apprenticeship of his grandchildren, Hollykit, Lionkit, and Jaykit. Firestar is the only one who knows that these three kits have the "Power of the Stars in their paws"
Although his grandson, Jaypaw, is blind, he allows him to train as a warrior. When Hollypaw wants to quit being a medicine cat apprentice and train as a warrior, at the same time Jaypaw wants to leave his apprentice life behind, Firestar is skeptical that it wasn't planned, but goes along with it and allows Hollypaw to train as a warrior and Jaypaw as a medicine cat. He assigns Hollypaw the mentor of Brackenfur instead of Jaypaw's warrior mentor, Brightheart.
After long last, Firestar's best friend, Graystripe, finds his way back to the Clans with his new mate, Millie. Even though he is pleased to see his friend, Firestar must choose who will be ThunderClan's deputy. After a long decision, his daughter, Leafpool, and his grandson, Jaypaw tell him that Brambleclaw should remain deputy. He realizes that that decision is probably for the best because Brambleclaw has been around their new territory longer and knows what is going on in the Clan.
When Jaypaw tells him and Sandstorm of Tallstar's warning to Barkface about the dogs, Firestar ignores his warning telling him that StarClan could be telling them to keep the look out for dogs, not take WindClan's territory.

[edit]Dark River[]

When Hollypaw sees that something was wrong with RiverClan, she asks Firestar to send a patrol to check on the Clan, but he refuses. Millie refuses her warrior name when he tries to give her one. Later, Onestar accuses him of stealing Sedgekit, Thistlekit, and Swallowkit, not knowing that they were lost in the tunnels. He is relieved when the apprentices show up with the kits and stop the battle, thanking them deeply.

[edit]Outcast[]

When Firestar finds two cats from The Tribe of Rushing Water, he welcomes them kindly and asks them to come and stay as long as they need to. He listens to the cats' story, and says it would be fine for Stormfur and Brook to go. When Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight ask to go, he answers yes also, because those two cats know the Tribe better than any other cat, and the Tribe deservs help after what they did for the cats when they were journeying to the Lake. He also allows Jaypaw, Hollypaw, and Lionpaw to accompany the cats to the mountains.

[edit]Eclipse[]

In Eclipse, Firestar has some trouble with WindClan crossing the border. He tries to send some cats, but they are turned down by Ashfoot. Some cats want to fight, but he says no blood will be shed unless there has to be. When WindClan attack, Firestar fights against them. The ThunderClan leader directs his Clan into three patrols, himself leading one, to fight the three groups of WindClan. On his patrol, he finds the fox hole where WindClan was sneaking onto ThunderClan territory. He tells his warriors to cave in the hole, which started the fight by his patrol. At the end of the book, he gives two of his grandchildren and Cinderpawtheir warrior names, naming them Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and Cinderheart.

[edit]Long Shadows[]

When Lionblaze asks Ashfur for some battle training, Firestar is angry about this and yells at them, telling Lionblaze that he is a warrior now and doesn't need training. He later becomes ill when greencough has spread around the camp. The catmint in ThunderClan territory dries out, so he and the other cats who had caught the sickness go into the old Twoleg nest. Firestar loses a life from the sickness, this is thought to have left him with five lives left. When catmint is found, they all recover and those who can go back to camp. Millie and Briarkit are the last to recover from the greencough, but everyone returns to camp and gets back to normal. It is later revealed that Ashfur was the one that helped Hawkfrost try to kill Firestar, since he was the father of Squirrelflight.

[edit]Sunrise[]

Firestar is worried that Sol might not be Ashfur's killer and starts to wonder if he was right to send the patrol to the sun-drown place. Later, he asks Leafpool if she can try to speak with Ashfur in StarClan and ask him who his killer is, but he is disappointed when she tells him that she can only speak to him if Ashfur comes to speak with her. When Hollyleaf tells the Clans about their true parents, he is very surprised and shocked, but takes control over the Clan, saying that they need to stay strong, despite all that has happened.

[edit]In the Omen of the Stars Series[]

[edit]The Fourth Apprentice[]

Shortly before this book, Firestar loses a life when a fox attacked him. Jayfeather fears that the ThunderClan leader has lost his last life, but is relieved when he opens his eyes.
At the Gathering, Firestar tries to react calmly to Leopardstar's claims that all the fish in the lake belong to RiverClan. On the way home, he declares that ThunderClan will not attack any RiverClan cats patrolling the lake.
Later, Lionblaze convinces Firestar to send a patrol upstream to see if something is blocking the water, working off of Dovepaw's keen senses, but he tells Firestar and everyone else that she had a dream from StarClan. Firestar agrees, and at the next Gathering proposes the idea to the other Clan leaders and gets them to agree with him. The next day, he announces to his Clan that Lionblaze and Dovepaw will go to represent ThunderClan.
He welcomes the cats when they return, and briefly mourns the death of Rippletail when Lionblaze and Dovepaw report to him, but then is happy that they found the water.

[edit]Fading Echoes[]

Firestar apparently is now experimenting with many new training methods, such as asking Lionblaze and Cinderheart to teach Dovepaw and Ivypaw about climbing trees and hopping between them, as well as having apprentices practice hunting as pairs, and warriors practicing battle together in teams.
When Mistystar is on her way back from the Moonpool after receiving her nine lives, she stops to visit ThunderClan, and Firestar welcomes her as the new leader, as he has been good friends with both her and Bluestar, her mother.
After Dovepaw tries, along with Ivypaw, to check on Sedgewhisker in WindClan, and is brought back to camp, Firestar lectures both of them about keeping to their own Clan's business, and then takes Dovepaw, Lionblaze and Jayfeather aside. He reveals to them that he knows that they are the Three of the prophecy, but that he doesn't know anything more about the prophecy than they do, to their disappointment. He soon meets with the Three every so often, and asks them to report anything strange they see to him.
When ShadowClan scent is found on ThunderClan's side of the border, Firestar insists that they shouldn't make too much trouble over it, but says that he will mention it at the Gathering. When the Gathering comes, Blackstar says Firestar is falsely accusing ShadowClan, and that ThunderClan had been straying on ShadowClan's side of the border. He also declares that ThunderClan thought all the other Clans were indebted to them after the journey to find the water, when it had been an effort from all four Clans. Firestar and the rest of ThunderClan were angered by this, and tension escalates until the Gathering ends.
When Jayfeather is in StarClan with Yellowfang, he sees five of Firestar's lost lives, though this is a mistake, as Firestar has lost six lives. Yellowfang says that the spirits can not speak or hear now, but they will be able to once Firestar loses his final life.
When Ivypaw approaches Firestar telling him that she has had a dream that ShadowClan will try to take more of ThunderClan's territory after Firestar gave them the Clearing, he is skeptical at first. She is persistent, and eventually persuades him to fight ShadowClan over the piece of land. Firestar brings his Clan to battle, and they fight fiercely. At one point, Firestar is fighting Russetfur, and although Lionblaze pulls her off of him and accidentally kills her, he is badly injured and loses a life, leaving only two left.

[edit]In the Field Guide Series[]

[edit]Secrets of the Clans[]

Firestar introduces the reader to ThunderClan and describes how he became a leader. He describes his Clan as the Clan of heroes, compassion, and destiny.
Firepaw is listed as one of Bluestar's apprentices.
Firestar is listed as one of ThunderClan's significant leaders. He is described as brave, intelligent, loyal - a natural leader. It is said that he has an unusually strong connection with StarClan.
Firestar is mentioned to have prophetic dreams, even when he was a kittypet.

[edit]Cats of the Clans[]

Firestar is the first character mentioned in this book. Rock explains to the kits how Firestar's kittypet origins do not make him less of a warrior, and he wonders what Bluestar was thinking when she brought him into the forest.
Rock shows sympathy for Firestar, saying that he is hardly able to close his eyes without "some farsighted dream filling his mind", though admits that Firestar has handled this well. He wonders whether it took more than a Clanborn cat to discover Tigerstar's treachery, or bring WindClan back home when they were chased away by ShadowClan.
He also hints that he knows how Firestar will lose each of his nine lives.

[edit]Code of the Clans[]

Firestar is featured as a young apprentice in Who Goes There? Whitestorm Teaches Border Tactics. He is still tormented by Sandpaw and Dustpaw, by Dustpaw trying to push him into brambles and Sandpaw preparing to put a fire ant in his pelt, but Whitestorm caught them every time.
In another part of the book, Sandstorm talks about her love for Firestar.

[edit]Battles of the Clans[]

Brambleclaw mentions to the reader that Firestar has started holding training sessions in the trees, so ThunderClan cats can learn to move among the trees and come down on the enemy from above. Buzzardstar also mentions how his former leader, Cloudstar, summoned Firestar to rebuild the old SkyClan, andSparrowpaw excitedly tells Clovertail how Firestar related the famous sky-drop move to his sister's mentor, Sharpclaw.
He is also fleetingly mentioned in Tigerstar's tales of battles in the old forest; when he fetched back WindClan with Graystripe, when he arranged a chain of cats to keep the dog pack away from the camp, and when Tigerstar admits that Firestar showed great courage with BloodClan, and states that he'll need every whisker of it when they meet again.
The rogue Nightwhisper attempts to kill Firestar, then Fireheart, when Tigerclaw led his rogues on the ThunderClan camp. Fireheart fights back and gets away with Brackenfur's help.
Later, Graystripe relates a battle with the foxes, and mentions how Firestar and Sandstorm were away somewhere on a special mission.

[edit]The Rise of Scourge[]

Firestar only appears once in The Rise of Scourge. This is when Firestar is telling Scourge about all of the lies and the treacherous things that Tigerstar had done, just to get power, and for revenge against the Clan. After Firestar is done telling Scourge, the small cat wipes out all of Tigerstar's nine lives.

[edit]In the Ravenpaw's Path Series[]

[edit]Shattered Peace[]

Firestar is seen in the beginning of the book as Firepaw. He is briefly seen with Ravenpaw and Graypaw while they are taking him to Barley's farm. He is not seen after that.

[edit]A Clan in Need[]

Firestar is first seen when Ravenpaw and Barley come to ThunderClan, asking for a battle patrol to come back with them and help get their barn back. When Ravenpaw asks, Firestar dodges the question, instead making an attempt to make Ravenpaw and Barley more comfortable staying in ThunderClan. When a patrol is attacked, Firestar is forced to admit the trouble that they are having from the BloodClan rogues living in the Twolegplace and is also forced to admit that ThunderClan couldn't spare a battle patrol at the time.
When Ravenpaw and Barley return with Barley's sister, Violet, Firestar prepares to lead ThunderClan to attack BloodClan, he also tells his warriors to show no mercy, which is something he rarely would say. Once BloodClan is defeated and disbanded, Firestar informs Barley and Ravenpaw that ThunderClan will send a battle patrol and he would lead it himself.

When Firestar leaves, Graystripe is left in charge of the Clan along with Cinderpelt until Firestar and Sandstorm, who was chosen to accompany him, returned from rebuilding SkyClan. When Firestar and Sandstorm are leaving Graystripe tells Firestar that he will wait for him forever.

[edit]Bluestar's Prophecy[]

At the end of the book, Bluestar sees Rusty sitting on his fence post. Bluestar then instructs Whitestorm to tell Graypaw to keep an eye on this kittypet.

[edit]In the Original Series[]

[edit]Into the Wild[]

On Graypaw's first night out as an apprentice[10], he meets Rusty when he strays out of Twolegplace, and gets into a small fight with him. Graypaw tells him he fought a good fight for a kittypet and tells him about the Clans. He then scents cats from his Clan and tells Rusty to get away. Unfortunately, Rusty didn't take to the warning in time and Bluestar and Lionheart find the two, making Graypaw crouch under their presences. He is then pleased with Bluestar's praise as she tells them that they've been watching them and is glad to see how he reacted bravely towards an intruder. Bluestar asks Rusty to join the Clan, but Rusty says he wishes to give it some thought. The next day, when Rusty arrives at ThunderClan camp, Graypaw watches him fight Longtail. He congratulates him on his victory along with other cats of the Clan. He is interupted, however, when Ravenpaw arrives back to camp from a battle against RiverClan without Tigerclaw orRedtail. He is shocked along with the rest of the Clan when Ravenpaw announces Redtail's death by Oakheart. He and Firepaw visit Ravenpaw, who is being treated by Spottedleaf. After talking to Ravenpaw, he and Firepaw are asked to leave the den by Spottedleaf and the two retire to bed in the apprentices' den as cats go to sit vigil for Redtail.
Two moons after Firepaw joined the Clan, Graypaw runs into him, on his way to deliver a message to the patrol along the WindClan border from Bluestar. Graypaw hunts with Firepaw for a bit, then runs off to deliver the message. When Graypaw meets Firepaw and Yellowfang with the patrol, he was reassured his friend that Bluestar would give him a fair punishment. Later, when Bluestar calls a Clan meeting, he is in awe when Bluestar takes Firepaw on as her apprentice. Once Firepaw's training is started again, Graypaw and his two friends attend the first Gathering since the disappearence of WindClan and meet all sorts of cats. After returning from the Gathering, Graypaw, Firepaw and Ravenpaw accompany Bluestar and Tigerclaw to the Moonstone. After they leave they get attacked byrats. When the cats return to camp, their camp is being attacked by ShadowClan. After the battle, Lionheart dies from his wounds, and Graypaw finishes his training with Tigerclaw.
A few days later, Frostfur's kits have disappeared and their had kidnapper killed Spottedleaf. In addition to that, Yellowfang has disappeared and she is accused of killing Spottedleaf and taking the kits to ShadowClan. So Bluestar assigns Firepaw to find her. Firepaw and Graypaw take Ravenpaw to live with Barley, and look for Yellowfang afterwards. They find her in ShadowClan territory and find out that Yellowfang didn't steal the kits, and she is trying to save them. Then, a patrol from ThunderClan finds them and agrees to help rescue the kits. The cats attack and manage to drive out Brokenstar and his warriors. When they get back, Whitestorm tells Bluestar of Graypaw and Firepaw's courageous fighting and are made warriors. Graypaw recieves the name Graystripe and Firepaw becomes Fireheart.

[edit]Fire and Ice[]

Graystripe and Fireheart finish their warrior vigils and go to the warriors den to get some sleep. Later, they attend the Gathering. The next morning, Bluestar assigns them the task of finding WindClan and bringing them back. They are able to locate the WindClan camp and pick up their scents. With the WindClan scents on their noses, they follow the trail and find a tunnel and discover that the Thunderpaths are right above them. The next day, Graystripe and Fireheart follow cats into another tunnel and find the entire Clan sleeping in it. Once the Clan is ready, Graystripe leads the Clan to the final Thunderpath. Once they cross, Graystripe and Fireheart meet their old friend, Ravenpaw. Ravenpaw and Barley welcome the Clan to stay and hunt for the night. The next morning, the cats recieve an omen from Barkface, WindClan's medicine cat that today would bring an unnecissary death. After discussing the omen briefly, Graystripe and Fireheart lead WindClan back to their camp. Once they return, Graystripe and Fireheart travel to Fourtrees with Deadfoot and Onewhisker. He and Fireheart plan to take a risky route in RiverClan territory, along the gorge, to get home sooner. Unfortunatly, the cats run into a RiverClan patrol. The cats leap into battle, and a ThunderClan patrol comes by and assists the four cats. During the battle, Graystripe fights Whiteclaw, and Whiteclaw falls over the gorge to his death.
Graystripe and Fireheart return to ThunderClan camp and they recieve apprentices, Brackenpaw and Cinderpaw. Later, he is seen saying that Brackenpaw was a quick learner and enjoys being a mentor. The day after that, Cinderpaw runs out on the frozen river to look at it. Graystripe runs out on the ice to get her Then, in between two pieces of ice, he sees a water vole. He runs out to catch it, but the ice beneath him breaks and he falls in the river. As he flows downstream,Silverstream, a RiverClan cat rescues him. Graystripe could barely take his eyes off of Silverstream, and only starts to feel the effects of the ice water when she leaves, and sees Yellowfang when he returns to camp and must stay in camp because he has a chill. All out through leaf-bare, Graystripe often sneaks out of camp, even though he is sick, and begins to neglect Brackenpaw's training. Curious, Fireheart follows his scent and sees him talking with Silverstream. Graystripe says goodbye to Silverstream and starts arguing with Fireheart about his loyalty and then the two head back to camp. Graystripe is then required to stay in his den. But Graystripe continues to sneak out. One day, he is horrified that the Clan will raid RiverClan hunting grounds, and almost sneaks away to warn Silverstream, but is stopped by Fireheart. The raid can't take place because of the thaw, and Graystripe fights Fireheart in front of the whole Clan for embaressing him. The next day, however, when Fireheart brings his sister's kit to the Clan, Graystripe supports him.
Graystripe continues to see Silverstream, and Fireheart has given up trying to convince him otherwise. He goes on patrol one day and comes back to find Brokenstar and his warriors attacking ThunderClan camp. Clawface was attacking Fireheart, but Graystripe managed to kill him before his friend was seriously injured. Graystripe later snaps at him about his loyalty when Bluestar orders the two to go hunting together. A few days later, Graystripe, along with the other warriors of his Clan, fight against RiverClan and ShadowClan, who were attacking WindClan camp. Graystipe looks over and sees Silverstream attacking Fireheart. Graystripe tells her to stop, and when she does, Fireheart instictivly pins her down, to the horror of his friend, but Fireheart lets her go, and Graystripe goes after her to make sure she wasn't hurt. When he returns to camp, he is critisized by Darkstripe and Tigerclaw, and goes to Fireheart for support. The two friends make up and will continue to stay friends even though Graystripe will continue to see Silverstream.

[edit]Forest of Secrets[]

Graystripe and Fireheart visit Ravenpaw after a Gathering to learn more about Redtail's death. Oakheart wasn't killed by Tigerclaw. He was killed accidentaly by a rock fall. It was also said that Redtail had Stonefur pinned down, and Oakheart saved him, saying that no ThunderClan warrior shall harm Stonefur. Graystripe asks Silverstream, who doesn't know anything, but her friend, Mistyfoot, who knew about Graystripe and Silverstream's affair, comfirms her father's death, but she can't explain why no ThunderClan warrior could harm her brother, but she thinks her mother, Graypool might know. When Silverstream and Mistyfoot bring the old she cat to meet the two ThunderClan cats, she asks Silverstream, Mistyfoot and Graystripe to leave so she can talk with Fireheart alone.
A few days later, the river starts to rise. Graystripe insists on seeing Silverstream to make sure she's alright. Fireheart goes with him and, as they travel downstream, they find two small kits in the river. They manage to rescue them and are brought to RiverClan camp, and are revealed to be Mistyfoot's two missing kits. Crookedstar thanks them grudgingly, and refuses to accept anymore help from ThunderClan, even though their camp is flooded and their fish are poisonous. However, thanks to Graypool, Crookedstar allows Graystripe and Fireheart to hunt for them, though it will be a challenge to hide it from there own Clan. The next day, while bringing prey to RiverClan, Graystripe recieves some news; Silverstream is pregnant with his kits. Graystripe and Silverstream are ecstatic about the news and Fireheart trys to tell them that it could be a bad thing, but both Silverstream and Graystripe are happy. He and Fireheart head back to ThunderClan, but are caught by Tigerclaw. He takes Graystripe and Fireheart to Bluestar, who punishes them by making them return to apprentice duties until they have learned their lesson to put their Clan first.
Once their punishment was over, Graystripe returns from meeting Silverstream and finds that WindClan and ShadowClan have attacked. However, his apprentice is finally made a warrior, and his name is Brackenfur. The next day, Graystripe meets Silverstream on Sunningrocks, but her kits start to come earlier than they're supposed to. Fireheart goes to fetch Yellowfang, but she is out looking for herbs so Cinderpaw comes to help. Once the two kits are born, Silverstream is unable to be saved, and she dies on the RiverClan border. While he buries Silverstream, Fireheart and Cinderpaw take his kits back to ThunderClan, and gives them to Goldenflower for them to nurse. When Fireheart comes back Graystripe tells him that he buried Silverstream by the river because she would have liked it. He is always in the nursery, to the annoyance of the queens. RiverClan later demands the kits to be in RiverClan because they would have if Silverstream didn't die. ThunderClan is prepared to fight for them, but to avoid a battle, Graystripe lets RiverClan take them. After Fireheart becomes deputy, he and Fireheart take his kits to Mistyfoot, who is waiting on the RiverClan border. Fireheart says that Graystripe should be with his kits. Graystripe agrees and goes with Mistyfoot to join RiverClan, leaving Fireheart heartbroken.

[edit]Rising Storm[]

Graystripe is not seen in most of the book, only mentioned by Fireheart and his other former Clanmates.
Fireheart thinks about his best friend and what he would say when Cloudpaw goes away to find food, leaving Fireheart to take his pigeon back to camp. Then, when Fireheart goes to Bluestar about Ashkit and Fernkit's apprentice ceremonies, Bluestar suggests that Graystripe mentor one of them, forgeting that he left the Clan. Also, on their way to the Highstones, Bluestar and Fireheart pass RiverClan and Fireheart gets excited that he may see Graystripe.
At the Gathering, Graystripe was not there, but Fireheart asked about him from Leopardfur, she says he is getting used to the water and that his kits are strong and clever. Also, when Sandstorm and Fireheart follow Whitethroat and Littlecloud home to ShadowClan, they saw them disappear through the tunnel under the Thunderpath, like the one he and Graystripe used to find WindClan.
Through the whole course of the story, Graystripe does his best to remain loyal to RiverClan, but deep down he his loyalties still lie with ThunderClan. When a huge fire rages through ThunderClan camp, driving them into RiverClan territory, Graystripe is ecstatic to see Fireheart again. He shows him proudly how well his kits, Featherkit and Stormkit, are doing. Graystripe hints to Bluestar that he would like to return to ThunderClan and help with the repairs, but she fiercely refuses, leaving a disappointed Graystripe.

[edit]A Dangerous Path[]

Now that he is a warrior of RiverClan, he needs to remain loyal, and he struggles to do so. Later, he warns Fireheart about Leopardstar talking about invadingSunningrocks. Leopardstar is suspicious of him, and feels that he will betray them at some point. Soon, Leopardstar demands that ThunderClan repay RiverClan for shelter from the fire by giving up Sunningrocks. Naturally, ThunderClan refuses, and battle ensues. Graystripe finds that he cannot fight against ThunderClan. He warns Fireheart when Leopardstar attacks him. She then tells Graystripe to attack Fireheart or else he will have 'major consequences'. Graystripe refuses, and Leopardstar, furious, starts to threaten Graystripe until reinforcements from ThunderClan show up. She takes one look and flees. In fury after the battle, Leopardstar exiles him from RiverClan. Graystripe goes back to ThunderClan, but most of the Clan members do not accept him, much to his dismay. He tells Fireheart that they will never trust him again, after what he'd done.
Sandstorm, who is mad at Fireheart for not choosing her to mentor Tawnykit, spends a lot of time with Graystripe, and points this out loudly as often as she can.
Graystripe is one of the few "runners" chosen by Fireheart, that lure the dog pack to the gorge.
When Bluestar is dying after saving Fireheart from an attack by a dog pack, he keeps Tigerstar at bay, so Fireheart can share tongues with Bluestar one last time. When Bluestar dies, Graystripe stops fighting Tigerstar and goes over to comfort his friend.

[edit]The Darkest Hour[]

Now that Firestar is leader, the Clan becomes balanced and they begin to accept Graystripe again, even though Whitestorm is chosen over him as deputy. He becomes respected when he saves Sorrelkit from Darkstripe, when he feeds her deathberries. Although happy, Graystripe is desperate to get information about his RiverClan kits, Featherpaw and Stormpaw. He is worried about them now that Tigerstar has taken over RiverClan. Firestar, Ravenpaw, and Graystripe go into RiverClan territory, soon seeing that Tigerstar wanted all half-Clan cats killed. Graystripe is horrified when he learns that his kits, along with Mistyfoot and Stonefur were going to be killed. They whitness Stonefur killed and Graystripe wants to help, but he helps to rescue his kits and Mistyfoot and bring them to ThunderClan camp.
Graystripe temporarily mentors Stormpaw while he stays in ThunderClan. He is delighted, but when RiverClan is freed from Tigerstar's clutches, his kits return to RiverClan. In the battle with BloodClan, Darkstripe attacks Firestar and tries to kill him, but Graystripe fights Darkstipe off and kills him. After he kills him he says that there is one less traitor in the forest. When Whitestorm is killed in the battle, Firestar does a quick deputy ceremony and makes Graystripe the new deputy.

[edit]In the New Prophecy Series[]

[edit]Midnight[]

In Midnight, it is revealed that he knows about the Fire and Tiger prophecy that Cinderpelt received when a piece of Twoleg rubbish set alight a dried bracken bush when she was out with Leafpaw collecting herbs. Even though Firestar is very worried about it, he appears to be okay with the knowledge.
At the beginning of the book, Squirrelpaw gets caught in a bramble bush, but Brambleclaw helps her free herself. Firestar walks in just after she becomes unstuck and rebukes them for being together, his fear of them destroying ThunderClan making him stressed. Graystripe then arrives and tells Firestar they aren't doing any harm.
His kits, Feathertail and Stormfur, went on a quest to find "Midnight" at the sun-drown-place.
He is still seen a lot with Firestar and continues to be ThunderClan's deputy.

[edit]Moonrise[]

He worries about Feathertail and Stormfur a lot now while Firestar worries about Squirrelpaw and sometimes Brambleclaw. He provides support for Firestar, as he is going through the same thing. When Leafpaw asks Graystripe if any cat knew Mothwing's and Hawkfrost's father was, he replies, "No. I always assumed it was another rogue."

[edit]Dawn[]

His son, Stormfur, returns from the sun-drown-place. When they reach Sunningrocks, Stormfur informs Graystripe on Feathertail's death. Graystripe turns to Brambleclaw and puts the blame on him for "taking her away," but Squirrelpaw bravely defends Brambleclaw, saying it wasn't his fault. Graystripe apologizes, saying that it wasn't fair, because losing Feathertail felt like losing Silverstream all over again.
He takes a ThunderClan patrol to rescue ThunderClan cats Brightheart, Cloudtail, and Leafpaw, along with Gorsetail of WindClan, and Mistyfoot of RiverClan. Also among the cats rescued were Cody, a kittypet and many rogues including the RiverClan cats Hawkfrost and Mothwing's mother Sasha. Having rescued all the cats though, Graystripe is not able to get out of the Twoleg monster before the doors close and lock him in, getting captured and taken away by the Twolegs.
When the ThunderClan patrol returns to camp, they explain to Firestar that Graystripe was captured by Twolegs.

[edit]Starlight[]

Graystripe does not formally appear in Starlight, but is listed in the allegiances.
He remains ThunderClan's official deputy as Firestar refuses to appoint another until he has proof that Graystripe is dead.

[edit]Twilight[]

Graystripe does not formally appear in Twilight, but is listed in the allegiances.
He remains ThunderClan's official deputy as Firestar still refuses to appoint another.

[edit]Sunset[]

Graystripe does not formally appear in Sunset, but is listed in the allegiances.
Firestar appoints Brambleclaw deputy as Graystripe's successor, finally admitting that it is likely that Graystripe is dead.

[edit]In the Power of Three Series[]

[edit]The Sight[]

Graystripe and Millie arrive on the island, where the Clans are having a gathering. At first, no one recognizes Graystripe, and attack them both thinking they are rogues. But Firestar stops them with a yowl, suddenly recognizing his long lost friend. He jumps down from the Great Oak to meet him. Graystripe and Millie look very ragged, dirty, tired, and hungry. Graystripe seems hurt that Firestar and the rest of the clan left him. It is shown when he says to Firestar, "You didn't wait for me,". Pain is shown in Firestar's eyes and he says that he had to leave to save the clan. He then whispers to Graystripe that if it was just Firestar, he would have waited. Firestar immediately brings them back to the camp, and Graystripe announces that Millie is his new mate. Many cats ask Graystripe multiple questions, even cats who he doesn't know, but Graystripe doesn't answer them. It is shown that Millie is nervous because Graystripe keeps pressing his fur close to hers. When they get back to camp, Graystripe and Millie eat and rest. It takes a while for them both to regain their strength.
Meanwhile, Firestar is worried about who's going to be deputy. He didn't know if he should appoint Graystripe the deputy as he once was, or leave Brambleclaw the deputy. After consulting StarClan and Leafpool, Firestar decided to let Brambleclaw remain deputy. Brackenfur wasn't happy about this at first, speaking up for his former mentor. But Graystripe didn't mind not being deputy. He understood that Brambleclaw knew the Clan better, and would make a great deputy.

[edit]Dark River[]

During the Clan meeting for Millie's warrior name, Graystripe asks anxiously if she planned to leave when she cuts Firestar off. Millie replies that she would never leave and brushes her muzzle against his. She them tells the Clan that she wanted to keep the name Millie, and Graystripe is the first to defend her, saying that it didn't matter what Millie was called, only about how she acts.
At the beginning of the book, he helps Birchfall expand the warrior's den.
Graystripe is also seen with a bellyache and Millie is tormenting him about how he ate too much. He defends himself by saying that they haven't seen that much prey in moons. As Jaypaw is treating him, he thinks that it was strange for a kittypet to lecture a warrior.
When Poppypaw and Mousepaw return to the camp and say the Hollypaw was missing, Graystripe scrambles to his paws and asks them if they knew how long she was missing, to which Poppypaw replies that Hollypaw never arrived for training. When Brightheart says that Hollypaw might be hurt, Graystripe answers Sorreltail after she asks who was hurt, replying that, "No one's hurt. But Hollypaw seems to be missing."

[edit]Outcast[]

Graystripe's mate, Millie, has moved to the nursery, expecting kits.
When Mousepaw, Hazelpaw, and Berrypaw were getting ready to be made warriors, Berrypaw is afraid that Firestar would name him Berrystumpytail. Graystripe tells them to be quiet and that the ceremony was about to start.
He later returns from a hunting patrol, carrying a squirrel and two mice in his jaws.
When the Tribe cats come are caught in ThunderClan territory,he and the rest of his patrol, consisting of Birchfall and Whitewing, take them to the ThunderClan camp. He growls to the tribe cats, telling them, "Not another paw step, until you tell us what you're doing on our territory".
After they explain about needing help, Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight offer to go to the mountains with them. When Firestar asks to discuss it with them, he tells Graystripe, Sandstorm, and Leafpool to come listen too.
Brambleclaw chooses him to serve as current deputy while he was away, saying that he was an obvious choice, since he already knew how to do the deputy duties.

[edit]Eclipse[]

Graystripe is on the patrol with Sorreltail, Mousewhisker and Jaypaw, when Mousewhisker said that maybe having Honeypaw, Poppypaw and Cindperpaw move into the den will stop the old warriors for having the softest moss. Graystipe teases him, saying, "We old warriors need the soft moss for our poor old ancient bones."
Graystripe's mate, Millie, has her kits. Before the kits are born, Graystripe sees Jaypaw and tells him, "If you have to choose to save anyone save her." Although Graystripe is unaware of it Jaypaw is pulled into his thoughts and it is shown that Graystripe is remembering the day when Silverstream had her kits and how she died which shows that he is afraid that things will end badly as they did with Silverstream's kitting which shows why is said what he said. However, their kits are born without a problem and they are named Bumblekit, Briarkit, and Blossomkit. Graystripe is overjoyed when he learns that both his mate and kits are alive and well.
When WindClan attack, it is said that Graystripe is gaurding the nursery and his face is daring any cat to come near. After the attack, Firestar orders Graystripe to stay behind and guard the camp. Graystripe is noticeably relieved that he can stay near Millie and their kits.
He seems worried when Millie catches whitecough that she will die, thus sending him into another flashback to Silverstream.

[edit]Long Shadows[]

It is stated when Millie and Briarkit have greencough and are moved to the abandoned Twoleg den, he is depressed and really misses her, and so do the healthy kits. When Millie was departing with the other sick cats, he had to be restrained from going to her by Hollyleaf and Lionblaze, and he had nearly attacked Lionblaze. Firestar told him that when it is time for Millie to go he will send for him and he said, "Firestar I have your word".

[edit]Sunrise[]

When Firestar takes a patrol to WindClan to ask if they know anything about Ashfur's death, he tells Graystripe to keep an eye on Thornclaw and the others. Graystripe then says that he will stick closer to them closer than their pelts. Graystripe is chosen as stand-in deputy when Brambleclaw takes a patrol to go after Sol. He seemed worried about not being able to do a good job, and he repeatedly asks Brambleclaw for help. His kit, Briarkit, strays too close to a crack in the sunning area, and nearly gets bitten by an adder. Honeyfern knocked her out of the way, losing her life in the process.
When Hollyleaf announces the truth about her parents, Graystripe is just mentioned staring, his yellow eyes blank with shock.

[edit]In the Omen of the Stars Series[]

[edit]The Fourth Apprentice[]

Graystripe is seen complaining about the drought at the Gathering. He is crouched next to Lionblaze, who tells Graystripe that Jayfeather hasn't had any dreams from StarClan about the drought. He later rebukes Lionblaze when he overhears him muttering to himself about Squirrelflight and the lies she told everyone, claiming that her sister Leafpool's kits as her own, and he wondered why Firestar picked her to mentor Rosepetal. When Lionblaze feels sorry for RiverClan, Graystripe retorts that everyone is starving, not just RiverClan, however they are suffering the most as they rely on one type of prey, fish.
When Jayfeather recalls how Firestar got attacked by a fox on the ShadowClan border, by the dead tree, Graystripe waited with him, Sandstorm and Thornclaw until Jayfeather arrived to attempt to save Firestar's life, but was unsuccessful. He later assisted Firestar back to camp.
Later, when a small fire breaks out in the camp, the Clan leader tells Jayfeather to get a patrol together and fetch water from the lake, but Graystripe disagrees and quickly tells everyone to kick dust on it. When this doesn't work, they are all about to start panicking and Jayfeather moves towards the entrance to obey Firestar's order, Lionblaze and Cloudtail arrive with wet moss and the fire is put out safely.
When Dovepaw returns from hunting, and Graystripe praises her catch, and touches Millie on the shoulder when she complains about the lack of rain. He also sypathises with Dovepaw when everyone else accuses her of making up stories about the brown animals blocking the stream between ShadowClan andThunderClan, kindly saying that all the apprentices played games, he then heads to the warriors den with Millie.
When Dovepaw, along with Lionblaze, is chosen to go on the special mission upstream to find out what is blocking the stream, and some ThunderClan cats protest against Firestar's decision, he asks if ThunderClan doesn't trust its leader, which silences the protesters.

[edit]Fading Echoes[]

Graystripe's daughter, Briarpaw, is severly injured when a beech tree falls on the camp. She is stuck under it, along with Longtail, an elder. Due to the tree, her backbone was broken, giving her no ability to feel pain in her legs, as well as not being able to use them. He then is seen comforting his mate, who is also Briarpaw's mother, Millie, as she is very distraught over her daughter's injuries. Later in the book, he appears to be very proud as his kits earn their warrior names: Bumblestripe, Briarlight, and Blossomfall.

[edit]In the Field Guide Series[]

[edit]Cats of the Clans[]

Rock questions whether Graystripe has any enemies, saying that he and Firestar share the same kind of foolish generosity. He also says that Graystripe's life was not all full of heroics, however; he fell in love with a RiverClan cat, Silverstream.
Rock says that after fathering Silverstream's kits, he chose to take them to RiverClan. According to the old cat, this was probably for the best as ThunderClanare not always so welcoming to half-Clan cats.
Graystripe's choice to stay with his kits tore him apart, as he lost not only his birth Clan, but his best friend, Firestar. However, he later returns to his Clan when he realizes his loyalties lie with ThunderClan still.

[edit]Battles of the Clans[]

Graystripe narrates the battle against the foxes. He represents ThunderClan at a Gathering while Firestar and Sandstorm are away. The Gathering is held atSnakerocks since foxes have made their dens at Fourtrees. The other Clans are nervous about being so far into ThunderClan territory. In response to that, Graystripe has an idea about driving the foxes out.
The cats agree to attack when the foxes are focused on hunting or something of that nature since foxes are most aggressive when they are in their dens, guarding their kits. They will use each Clan's strengths to drive them out together and Graystripe would lead them into a battle for their homes.
Cloudtail leads the patrol consisting of Graystripe, Mousefur, her apprentice Spiderpaw, and Brightheart with her keen nose. Graystripe is happy when they see a flash of red fur and sends Mousefur with the dead rabbit since she is faster than him. She leads the foxes to the ShadowClan ambush. Then Graystripe joins Mistyfoot and RiverClan and his patrol distracts the four foxes while WindClan attack the dens. The ambush traps the foxes. Blackstar and Graystripe order the foxes to leave and never come back and they reatreat. Blackstar congratulates Graystripe, saying Firestar would be proud.

[edit]In the Lost Warrior Series[]

[edit]The Lost Warrior[]

Graystripe is determined not to live the life of a kittypet and get back to ThunderClan. One time he ended up getting into a fight with another kittypet namedDuke, and lost. Then he met Millie, who told him that nobody ever won a fight against Duke. She led him back to his Twoleg nest. He comments, "Lose a fight with a kittypet, then get too lost to find my way back here? I want to curl up somewhere and die." A few days later, Millie showed him a forest to make him happy. In that forest, Graystripe taught Millie how to hunt and fight. Eventually, Duke saw them practicing and taunted them. This time, it was three on two (Duke brought some of his friends with him). While Millie fights off Duke's friends, Graystripe aims for Duke. This time, he beats Duke.
Graystripe thinks he isn't a warrior anymore, until Silverstream appears to him in a dream and tells him to return to ThunderClan. Millie doesn't come to accompany him on his journey at first, but after ten days, she catches up to him. Until then, Graystripe is so lost that he wanders in circles for days, starving and hallucinating. He thinks he saw Firestar, then imagines he heard Sandstorm, Cloudtail, and Bluestar's voices. Millie's eventually gets louder than the rest of them. Millie wonders who Silverstream was, so Graystripe explains that she was his first mate, but died giving birth to his kits. He says he would never stop loving Silverstream, but since he met Millie, he isn't lonely anymore. Millie says that if Graystripe needed help, he had her.

[edit]Warrior's Refuge[]

Graystripe and Millie continue in their journey to find ThunderClan. He and Millie are separated in a corn field, after running from a huge combine. They are reunited by a small group of barn cats who were kicked out of their Twoleg's nest after their old owners died. The cats are Husker, his mate Moss, Moss' brotherSplash, and their kits, Birdy, Pad, Raindrop, and Little Mew. After rescuing a female Twoleg kit, the Twolegs befriend the barn cats and care for them. Graystripe and Millie find the Great Sycamore tree, and Graystripe discovers the old ThunderClan camp, which is now deserted.

[edit]Warrior's Return[]

Graystripe sees that ThunderClan's camp has been destroyed, and that only the medicine cats' den made it through. He and Millie go to the barn on WindClan territory, where they meet Ravenpaw and Barley, and they give him directions to where the Clans went. They go to Mac's Truckstop, where they meet a cat named Diesel. Graystripe is hit by a monster, and is wounded. The two stay at the truck stop while Graystripe heals. During this, Graystripe thinks of ways of how to tell Millie how he feels about her. He also soon becomes jealous of Diesel since he and Millie had become close friends. Graystripe later reveals his feelings to Millie and learns that she feels the same towards him. After he heals, he and Millie ride on a monster to sun-drown-place. After, they meet a rogue who tells them that he saw the Clans coming through. They arrive at the Clans' new home, and see the cats on the way to the Gathering. Then, before they go down, Graystripe asks Millie to be his mate, and she accepts. Then, they go to the island, and see the Clans.

====Bluestar's Prophecy====
Bluekit is born to Moonflower and Stormtail, along with her sister, Snowkit. Bluekit finally opens her eyes and she and Snowkit are taken out of the nursery by Patchkit and Leopardkit, who show them around camp, and take them to the apprentices' den where they start to talk with Dapplepaw. Bluekit wants to explore the camp on her own, so she and Snowkit slip away and cause mischief around the camp; they meet a few warriors and the elders, like Stonepelt, who quickly shoos them out of the warriors' den.
A few moons later, Bluekit is apprenticed to Stonepelt. A while later, Goosefeather sees an omen in the vole that was Snowpaw's first catch. He announces to the Clan that unless they attack WindClan, they will be destroyed. Pinestar decides to attack WindClan at dawn. He tells Snowpaw and Bluepaw that they will be messengers to find and help injured cats, rather than participate in the fighting, since they haven't learned to fight yet.
On the morning of the fight, Goosefeather announces that he has seen another sign from StarClan. They must destroy WindClan's medicine supply because they found a piece of catmint on the mouse's fur. During the battle, Bluepaw watches uneasily and helps tend to the wounded. Later, in horror, she watches Moonflower, her mother, being attacked and killed by the medicine cat, Hawkheart. Hawkheart was able to do this because he was originally a warrior. Pinestar soon calls the retreat for ThunderClan when he realizes they are losing the battle.
Bluepaw falls into a depression after Moonflower's death. Her new mentor is Sunfall, the ThunderClan deputy; Stonepelt had retired because of a shoulder wound that wouldn't heal properly.[11] She resents her apprentice tasks, and only after Sunfall talks to her does she begin to notice how everyone is avoiding her. At the next Gathering, Bluepaw meets Crookedpaw for the first time and they become friends. Bluepaw begins to act friendly towards her Clanmates again. She just returns to camp when they learn that RiverClan is invading Sunningrocks. At the battle, Bluepaw and Snowpaw fight together to fight off Crookedpaw, and soon RiverClan are forced to retreat. But Bluepaw is very upset because she thought Crookedpaw was her friend.
A while later, Goosefeather is treating Bluepaw's wounds from a fox when he suddenly reveals a prophecy to her, saying, "Like fire, you will blaze through the forest. But beware, even the most powerful flames can be quenched by water." Not long after, Bluepaw and Snowpaw receive their warrior names, Bluefur and Snowfur. After the Gathering a few days later, Pinestar tells Bluefur that he had overlooked part of her training, and that he will be taking her to the Moonstoneso that he may speak with StarClan. Once they reach the Moonstone, Bluefur dreams that she is drowning in a fierce current.
Not long after their return, Leopardfoot begins to give birth to Pinestar's kits. The next morning, Bluefur finds that she has a horrible bellyache, but recovers soon. Rosepaw and Sweetpaw are also ill, possibly from a mouse they shared with Bluefur, and while Rosepaw is able to recover, Sweetpaw grows sicker and eventually dies. Much to Bluefur's annoyance, Snowfur continues to show deep feelings for the new warrior, Thistleclaw.
Not long after, Bluefur finds the young RiverClan warrior, Oakheart, sunning himself in ThunderClan territory. Bluefur is furious and attacks him. He pushes her into a stream, and she panics, thinking she is drowning, but Oakheart points out that she can stand on the bottom. Bluefur snaps at him and makes him leave. She then starts to think about him, even though she keeps telling herself it's against the warrior code to fall in love with Oakheart. But she can't stay away from him or keep him out of her thoughts.
Later, Rosetail finds her drenched and says she looks "moony", much like the way Snowfur was mooning over Thistleclaw. Rosetail keeps pressing Bluefur until she snaps at her. Rosetail then tells her that Thrushpelt has had enough time to moon over Bluefur.
Later on, Snowfur tells Bluefur that she is expecting Thistleclaw's kits. Bluefur pretends she is overjoyed, but she really is devastated. Snowfur is surprised to have only one kit born. Snowfur names her only kit Whitekit. Bluefur is surprised at Thistleclaw's kindness to her sister.
After that, Bluefur finds a tuft of dog fur and brings it to the nursery for Whitekit to play with. She then coaxes Snowfur to go on a walk with her. As they walk, Snowfur finds out that Bluefur is mooning over Oakheart. She runs and Bluefur finds her watching ShadowClan warriors hunting in ThunderClan territory. They chase them across the border. As Snowfur is on the Thunderpath, a monster hits and kills her. Bluefur is even more devastated, and has trouble telling Whitekit. After Bluefur tells him, Whitekit cannot stay away from his dead mother.
After Sunstar claims back Sunningrocks, Bluefur and Oakheart spend the night together at Fourtrees. At Fourtrees, Bluefur challenges Oakheart to a race to the top of one the four oaks. Oakheart then reveals he can't climb. Bluefur shows him how to climb. Oakheart then vows to teach Bluefur how to swim. Bluefur had no interest, for she feared the water because of Goosefeather's prophecy. Oakheart and Bluefur then build a nest in one of the roots of the great oaks. Bluefur then becomes pregnant with their kits.
Later, Leopardfoot tells Bluefur that it is clear that she is expecting kits. Bluefur is unsure of how to explain it, but Thrushpelt generously offers to say he is the father, because he loves Bluefur. As Bluefur has her kits, Snowfur comes and helps her along; she then gives birth to two daughters and a son, Mistykit,Mosskit, and Stonekit. She doesn't let Thrushpelt name them because she wants her kits to remember the river. As the deputy, Tawnyspots, becomes very sick and must retire soon, Bluefur realizes she must give up her kits so she can become deputy instead of Thistleclaw, who is too violent, and threatens every Clan. She leaves in the middle of the night with her kits and makes them think it's a game called "Secret Escape"; they go to Sunningrocks where Oakheart is waiting. The weather takes a turn for the worse, and Bluefur realizes that her kits won't survive if she doesn't do something. She makes holes in the snow to try to keep her kits warm. As she moves them from hole to hole, Stonekit complains of being tired. Bluefur decides to let her kits sleep and she also dozes off. When Bluefur wakes up, she wakes up her kits. Mosskit wouldn't wake up and Bluefur does a desperate attempt to wake up Mosskit. Bluefur hears Snowfur, her dead sister, telling her to let go of Mosskit. Bluefur looks up to see Mosskit talking to Snowfur with excitement as she goes to StarClan. Bluefur gives her two remaining kits, Stonekit and Mistykit, to Oakheart. This is the last time she talks to Oakheart. She buries Mosskit and tells the Clan that a fox took her kits. She acts devastated, but is even more inside.
She is then chosen to be deputy of ThunderClan. When Sunstar dies, she becomes leader of ThunderClan, and picks Redtail to be her deputy. Featherwhiskertakes her to Moonstone to receive her nine lives: Pinestar, Larksong, Mumblefoot, Weedwhisker, Sweetpaw, Mosskit, Sunstar, Moonflower, and Snowfur give her these lives.

[edit]Firestar's Quest[]

In Firestar's Quest, Bluestar is the first cat to tell Firestar about SkyClan when he visits the Moonstone for answers. Firestar becomes angry at Bluestar and the rest of StarClan for lying to him before, but he quickly gets over it.
When Firestar and Sandstorm start their journey, they eventually come to an abandoned Twoleg nest. Sandstorm wants to stay for the night, but Firestar convinces her that they need to continue, even though a raging storm had begun. When they began traveling upstream, Firestar looks into the clouds and sees Bluestar's face in the clouds. Her face is pleading, as if trying to tell him something. Firestar starts to yowl a question, but is cut off by a bang of lightning, in which Bluestar's face disappears. After Firestar and Sandstorm get separated, Firestar realizes that Bluestar was trying to warn them.

[edit]SkyClan's Destiny[]

Bluestar is first seen in one of Leafstar's dream along with Snowfur, Whitestorm, Cloudstar and Skywatcher.

[edit]In the Original Series[]

[edit]Into the Wild[]

In the prologue, the ThunderClan medicine cat, Spottedleaf, receives a message from StarClan: "Fire alone can save our Clan." Bluestar later is on patrol and meets Rusty for the first time. She offers him a place in ThunderClan, which he later accepts. He is brought to the Clan, and after proving himself worthy by fighting Longtail, Bluestar names him Firepaw. She names Lionheart deputy after the death of Redtail, and takes Firepaw as her apprentice.
When Brokenstar demanded hunting rights from the other Clans, Bluestar refused to agree. She, Tigerclaw and several apprentices later go to the Moonstone so she can share dreams with StarClan. During their return, they were attacked by rats, and Bluestar loses her seventh life, though she told Tigerclaw that she had four lives left. ShadowClan had attacked the camp in their absence, and in the battle, Lionheart was killed. She then named Tigerclaw the new deputy. Ravenpaw is terrified.
One day in her den, she revealed to Firepaw that she had really lost her seventh life, not her fifth, in the battle with the rats. Later, she gives Graypaw and Firepaw their warrior names, Graystripe and Fireheart, respectively.

[edit]Fire and Ice[]

In Fire and Ice, when Fireheart is going to the Gathering as a full warrior, he stops and talks to Bluestar. Fireheart says that Redtail has killed Oakheart and Bluestar does not think so, and she says that a deputy should not kill another deputy. Fireheart also says that Ravenpaw is living with a loner, and Bluestar says that he should be happy living as a loner instead of Clan life.
Bluestar makes sure that WindClan is found and returned to their territory by sending Fireheart and Graystripe to go bring them out of exile. She copes with many problems throughout the book, one of them being the possible threat of RiverClan and ShadowClan making an alliance with each other. She also comes down with greencough, a very serious and fatal disease, during leaf-bare. It causes her to lose her eighth life, leaving her only one life left to lose before she joined StarClan. Tigerclaw sets a trap for her by the Thunderpath, hoping that she will die when she tries to bring a message to him. Instead of Bluestar, however, Cinderpaw falls into the trap.
Later on, it is suspected that RiverClan and ShadowClan are hunting in ThunderClan territory. RiverClan has an excuse unknown by Bluestar, but instead of ShadowClan, it turns out to be Brokenstar, the ex-leader of ShadowClan, and his band of rogues; she finds this out because her patrol finds rabbit bones with his scent. He later attacks the camp and is blinded by Yellowfang. Bluestar accepts the newly named Brokentail into the Clan as a prisoner, under the care of his mother, Yellowfang, until he is healed.

[edit]Forest of Secrets[]

Fireheart begins investigating the battle at Sunningrocks when Redtail was killed to find out about Tigerclaw, but in the process, he discovers Bluestar's greatest secret: the RiverClan warriors, Mistyfoot and Stonefur, are her kits.
Bluestar finally believes Fireheart about Tigerclaw's treachery when Tigerclaw brings the rogue cats to attack ThunderClan. While the other Clan cats are busy fighting them off, he slips into Bluestar's den. He is about to kill her, but then is stopped by Fireheart. She exiles Tigerclaw from ThunderClan, and says that if he is caught on their territory again, the warriors can kill him. She makes Fireheart her deputy, which comes much to the Clan's surprise because of his kittypet origins. However, the ceremony was after moonhigh, which is against Clan customs, so many elders thought it was a bad omen.

[edit]Rising Storm[]

Bluestar has become a shell of her former self, leaving most of the management of the Clan to Fireheart, and sometimes forgetting things about what is going on. After learning about Tigerclaw's treachery, she trusts only Fireheart and Whitestorm. When trying to travel to Highstones to speak with StarClan, she is stopped by a WindClan patrol led by Mudclaw. She begins to think that StarClan does not want her to speak with them.
Later, when there is a fire in the forest near ThunderClan's camp, Bluestar helps get the cats out, being more alert than usual. When all of ThunderClan is sheltering with RiverClan, she decides that StarClan has turned their backs on her and declares war against her warrior ancestors.

[edit]A Dangerous Path[]

Bluestar goes insane in this book due to her depression, suspected to be caused by the fact that her "loyal" deputy, Tigerclaw, turned out to be a traitor. She is told by Fireheart that Tigerclaw, now Tigerstar, is the new leader of ShadowClan. Bluestar has now grown to loathe StarClan, believing that they have betrayed her.
She believes that WindClan is stealing prey from ThunderClan, when in reality the evidence shows that it is a dog, and prepares to launch an attack on them. Fireheart travels to WindClan to set up a peace meeting in an attempt to avert an inter-Clan war.
She leads a patrol past Sunningrocks, and they are attacked by a RiverClan patrol. She is attacked by her own kits, and Fireheart stops them by revealing to them that Bluestar is their mother. She also allows Graystripe to rejoin ThunderClan after he is banished from RiverClan for warning Fireheart.
She disappears from camp without warning any of her Clan, and travels to Mothermouth to share tongues with StarClan. They warn her of the "pack", saying that "it will bring more death and destruction than the forest has ever seen before".
She portrays her hatred of StarClan to her own Clan by giving only Cloudpaw his warrior name, Cloudtail; she does this because of his belief that StarClan does not exist, and also because she only trusts Fireheart, therefore she thinks his apprentice is the only one that deserves to become a warrior. This causesSwiftpaw and Brightpaw, the two older apprentices who Bluestar has neglected, to travel to Snakerocks in hope of discovering what has been stealing ThunderClan prey, all in attempts to impress Bluestar. They are brutally attacked by dogs, and Swiftpaw dies. Brightpaw barely manages to survive, but with a gruesome scar on her face. Bluestar gives the dying warrior ceremony to Brightpaw, naming her Lostface.
Fireheart comes up with a plan to rid ThunderClan of the Snakerocks menace, which turned out to be a pack of dogs which are fed by Tigerstar. In the end, Tigerstar pins Fireheart down so that the lead dog could catch up to him. Fireheart is saved by Bluestar, who cannons into the lead dog's side, knocking the dog and herself off the side of the gorge and into the river. During her final conversation with Fireheart, she reveals to him that she came to help him with defeating the dog pack because knew StarClan and ThunderClan had not betrayed her. When she saw the Clan working together to drive off the dogs, she realized that none of her Clanmates were traitors, and she could not leave the Clan she loved so much to face the danger alone. She was also forgiven by Mistyfoot and Stonefur, who accepted her as their mother. She dies naming Fireheart leader, and telling him that he is the fire that would save the Clan.

[edit]The Darkest Hour[]

When Firestar is receiving his nine lives, Bluestar gives Firestar his ninth and final life, along with the gifts of nobility, certainty, and faith, and his leader name, Firestar. She then gives him the book's main prophecy: "Four will become two, Lion and Tiger will meet in battle, and Blood will rule the forest".
During the battle with BloodClan at Fourtrees, she also explains that his body needs to recover from the loss of his first life before he can rejoin the battle. She also was one of the StarClan warriors telling him that there would always be five Clans in the forest, the fifth being StarClan. She told him she would go back with him in the battle.

[edit]In the New Prophecy Series[]

[edit]Midnight[]

In the prologue, Bluestar chooses the ThunderClan representative to go to the sun-drown-place. She also challenges Oakheart when he chooses Feathertail to go on the journey, and he says, "Wasn't she mentored well?" because Feathertail was mentored by Mistyfoot (later Mistystar), Bluestar and Oakheart's kit.
She later appears to Brambleclaw in a dream, telling him of his fate; he needs to go with three other cats to find a new territory for the Clans.

[edit]Starlight[]

In the prologue, Bluestar is amongst those cats that meet with Midnight in the skies controlled by StarClan over their new territory. She cautions Spottedleafagainst looking too hard for the future of cats because she "of all cats should know that sometimes there is nothing we can do."[12]

[edit]Twilight[]

Bluestar is amongst the StarClan warriors at the Moonpool that tell the ThunderClan medicine cat, Cinderpelt, that she will be joining StarClan very soon. This later turns out to be during a badger attack on ThunderClan, where she dies defending the nursery and Sorreltail, who is giving birth to her first litter of kits.

[edit]Sunset[]

Bluestar, Yellowfang, and Lionheart tell the new ThunderClan medicine cat, Leafpool, that she will walk a path that few medicine cats have walked before. Leafpool asks Bluestar about three bright stars that she sees very often in the sky, but does not recognize. Bluestar informs her that these stars are of cats she has not met yet, but will shape her future when she does meet them.

[edit]In the Power of Three Series[]

[edit]The Sight[]

Bluestar gives Leafpool a message to tell Firestar on the matter of Graystripe or Brambleclaw being ThunderClan's deputy. She says that Firestar needs to use his head, not his heart, in his decision. With help of Jaypaw deciphering, Firestar chooses Brambleclaw to remain the deputy of ThunderClan.

[edit]Eclipse[]

Bluestar is seen in the prologue talking to Whitestorm, Spottedleaf, and Yellowfang about the prophecy of Jaypaw, Hollypaw, and Lionpaw.

[edit]Long Shadows[]

Bluestar is seen among StarClan by Jaypaw, furious that greencough might destroy her Clan. She respectively greets Brightspirit when she bursts into the clearing, saying it has been a long time since they met.

[edit]Sunrise[]

Bluestar is seen in the prologue with Yellowfang. The former medicine cat attacks Bluestar, angry that she did not tell the truth to the Clans. She goes on to say that Bluestar had destroyed the Clan she had always tried to protect.

[edit]In the Omen of the Stars Series[]

[edit]The Fourth Apprentice[]

In the prologue, Bluestar is with three other cats to discuss what to do about the One. Sharply, she asks if they are certain that they have the right Three this time. She is against sending the One a sign to tell her that she is part of the prophecy, but Lionheart interrupts her by telling her that she needs to have faith in the cats. She is overruled by the other cats about sending the sign, and then asks Yellowfang who she will send it to. Yellowfang responds that she will send it to the third cat.

[edit]In the Field Guide Series[]

[edit]Secrets of the Clans[]

In Secrets of the Clans, it is revealed that her third kit's name was Mosskit, and that she looked exactly like her, just as Mistyfoot and Stonefur. Mosskit dies in the snow and Bluestar's sister, Snowfur, takes care of Mosskit in StarClan. It was revealed that Whitestorm is her nephew, explaining the great affection between them. Her mother's name was Moonflower, her mentor was named Stonepelt, and she was a mentor to Frostfur and Runningwind, as well as Firestar.
She also appears in the story, "Bluepaw Speaks: My First Sight of Fourtrees". Her first Gathering was only two days after her apprentice ceremony because she had caught a squirrel that was as big as she. Her mother proudly accompanied her to the Gathering. She also quotes that one day, she would be the leader of ThunderClan.

[edit]Cats of the Clans[]

Bluestar is first mentioned when Rock questions Bluestar's decision to bring Firestar into the Clan, asking whether Bluestar was blinded by the color of Firestar's pelt, knowing he fulfilled the prophecy that fire would save ThunderClan. Rock says that Bluestar was a great leader. It is revealed that she gave up Mosskit,Mistyfoot, and Stonefur so she could become deputy instead of Thistleclaw, who would have made the forest run with blood. Rock tells Mosskit that to Bluestar, Firestar seemed like a gift from StarClan, who gave Spottedleaf the prophecy that fire would save the Clan. Rock also states that it was too easy to think that Bluestar went mad during the last moons of her life. You only had to think about how much she'd thought she'd failed to understand her madness. She'd lost her kits, her mate, her kin, only to be betrayed by her seemingly loyal deputy Tigerclaw. But one must remember that she died protecting her Clan, her head cleared as ThunderClan worked together to protect her and each other. She gave up her last life valiantly, and spent her last moments making peace with her surviving kits before going to join Mosskit, Snowfur and Oakheart in StarClan.
When Rock is talking about Yellowfang, Bluestar is briefly mentioned, saying Yellowfang persuaded her to let Brokenstar live in the ThunderClan camp.
When Rock talks about Cinderpelt, he tells the kits that StarClan did not plan for Cinderpelt to be struck on the Thunderpath instead of Bluestar. Bluestar did not hesitate to trust Brambleclaw when she chose him to go on the quest to find Midnight.
As Rock lists the deaths that Tigerstar caused, Bluestar is on the list.
Rock also mentions Bluestar when talking about Tallstar. When she tried to lead ThunderClan into battle against Tallstar and WindClan over a belief of stolen prey, Tallstar believed Firestar's warning that Bluestar was mistaken and refused to fight. Rock also says that it was partly thanks to Onewhisker that Tallstar agreed not to fight against Bluestar.
Rock mentions that Crookedstar knew who Mistystar and Stonefur's mother was the moment Oakheart came to him with a tale of finding two kits lost in the snow, because it was obvious from the color of their fur and the scent that clung to them.
It is mentioned that Ravenpaw's luck ran out the day that Bluestar chose Tigerclaw to be Ravenpaw's mentor.

[edit]Battles of the Clans[]

In "Dustpaw Speaks: Shadows in the Forest", Tigerclaw sends Ravenpaw back to the camp to tell Bluestar about the invading ShadowClan warriors and fetch reinforcements. During Dustpaw's plan of a double Lightning Strike to make the invaders think the whole Clan has them surrounded, Longtail calls out, "We've trapped them, Bluestar!" to make it seem as if she was present, when she wasn't.

[edit]In the Ravenpaw's Path Series[]

[edit]Shattered Peace[]

When Ravenpaw goes to the Moonstone with Barley, she appears to Ravenpaw, along with Whitestorm and Spottedleaf, in a dream. She tells him that he and Barley have the right to live at the barn, and that ThunderClan would help them reclaim their home.

[edit]In the Stand-Alone Manga[]

[edit]The Rise of Scourge[]

Bluefur, a young warrior, was on a patrol made up of herself, Thistleclaw, and his apprentice Tigerpaw. On this patrol, they discover a kittypet on ThunderClan territory. Thistleclaw thought that the kittypet should be chased out, but Bluefur defends him, saying that he is only a kit. Thistleclaw said that Bluefur was being soft on him because he was a kittypet. He then asked his apprentice, Tigerpaw, what he thought, and Tigerpaw said that he should be taught a lesson. Thistleclaw asks him to attack, and Tigerpaw almost kills the kit before being stopped by Bluefur, who says that a cat doesn't need to kill to win a battle
